From photography to illustration, from painting to mixed techniques, the 22 artists selected for Change! – the first international public art competition of Off Site Art – gave their personal interpretation, in visual terms, of the word ‘change’, emphasizing its meaning with surrealist suggestions, reportage, abstractions, comparisons, metaphors drawn from stories and popular imaginary .
In collaboration with the American non-profit association ArtBridge, the Aquila association had opened a call for artists residing in Italy and in the city of New York, which ended last July with around 350 participations for a total of 1400 works. Starting from September and throughout 2017, the winners’ works will be printed on pvc blow-ups and installed on the scaffolding of the buildings under reconstruction, accompanying the rebirth of L’Aquila. Change! is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Gran Sasso Science Institute.
