Bridging the Divide: NYCHA

Bridging The Divide

Bridging the Divide is an ongoing series of community-engaged artist fellowships at New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments. NYCHA provides affordable housing for 400,000 lower-income New Yorkers. For inquiries: info@art-bridge.org or (646) 450-1463

About the Program

Selected artists engage with residents via several months of workshops. Through this engagement, artists create artworks that amplify the voices of residents — their cultures, histories, talents, challenges, joys, etc. The resulting exhibitions are displayed at hundreds of feet long, on the construction fencing that surrounds the NYCHA development.

Bridging the Divide was founded in 2019 by ArtBridge’s Executive Director, Stephen Pierson. This program is run by Program Director Jon Souza, and Senior Program Manager Rebecca Pristoop.
