“Bronx Communal Spaces” featured works by Bronx-based artists Laura Alvarez, Blanka Amezkua, Trevon Blondet, Matthew Burcaw, Dennis RedMoon Darkeem, Carlos Wilfredo Encarnación, and James Martocci. It was installed at the construction site for a Camba Housing Ventures affordable and supportive housing development at 202nd and 203rd Streets in Bedford Park, Bronx. Centered on celebrating the shared spaces that bring Bronxites together and enrich the local community, ‘Bronx Communal Spaces’ presented varied perspectives on living, teaching, discovering the self, and reflecting on the environment in the Bronx.

The exhibition was made possible with financial support from CHV and is part of City Canvas, an initiative of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs that transforms the city’s temporary protective structures into platforms for artwork driven by collaboration between local artists and communities.
