Dario Mohr’s Sow the Seeds is a call to acknowledge the rich roots of South Bronx residents’ lineages as well as a plea to implement sustainable and healthy environmental practices. A neighbor of Mitchel Houses, Mohr is a witness to the gentrification and heat island effect impacting the community. His artwork intertwines photographic imagery of residents’ hands with painted representations of an African Acacia tree. Seed pods and a double helix strand symbolize the potential for the community to thrive.
