Jairo Sosa ArtBridge Fellow has worked with community organizations most notably The Cooper Union’s Saturday Program, a program that provides free art courses and supplies to NYC public high school students as an instructor and administrator. Working at ArtBridge Jairo focuses on developing new programming and community engagement strategies to bring community-engaged art to the forefront through free workshops culminating in collaborative artworks while engaging local communities and amplifying historically marginalized voices.
Jairo is a first-generation Dominican-American and native New Yorker. He studied Fine Art at The School of Visual Arts before completing his studies at The Cooper Union for the Advancement for Science and Art where he received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts. During his time at Cooper Union, he participated in the Art Exchange Program and studied painting, printmaking, and sculpture at the Universitat de Barcelona Escuela de Bellas Artes, Barcelona, Spain. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Fine Art as a recipient of the Solomon B. Hayden Fellowship for Visual Art Students in the sculpture program at Columbia University.
