“Brownsville King of Love” by Victor Quinonez (known as “Marka27”) celebrates identity, Caribbean heritage, and the vibrant cultural legacy of Brownsville. The artwork features a young Brooklyn king wearing a crown and a custom jacket filled with symbolic patches—from boxing gloves to Caribbean flags, hip-hop legacy patches, and more. The work reflects the neighborhood’s pride, resilience, and creative power.
“Brownsville King of Love” is the largest ever mural in Brookly, rising 145 feet tall and 40 feet wide on the side of a new affordable housing building. This project was made possible through partnership with Slate Property Group and RiseBoro Community Partnership, with input from local stakeholders — including youth at the Browsnville Community Justice Center — to ensure it reflects the voices of the people who call Brownsville home.
