ArtBridge is the Chelsea-based non profit organization that is committed to the development and support of local, emerging artists. The Summer 2013 Graphic Design/Gallery provides a unique opportunity for a visually inclined, personable graphic design student to fine-tune and grow their design skills at a cutting-edge nonprofit organization while gaining firsthand experience working in a critically-acclaimed Chelsea gallery.
The ArtBridge Graphic Design/Gallery intern will have a range of duties, which may include the following, depending on skill set: Designing materials for print and web including signage, program materials, gallery materials, postcards, web graphics, etc. Maintaining ArtBridge’s website through web page updates Photographing installation of public exhibitions and do the necessary postproduction on the images Interfacing with the gallery-going public Exhibition promotion and social networking Inventory management Event research and planning, when necessary
Qualifications: Self motivated and self-starter (will be working alone on most Saturdays) Proficiency in CS5 Suite (2+ years experience), Microsoft Excel Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines Strong written and verbal skills (customer service background a plus) Willingness to assist with select evening gallery and installation openings and events Ability to design within organization’s brand aesthetic/established visual identity.
Details: This three (3) day/week internship offers a modest stipend. We are happy to work with interns to coordinate stipends or school credit with their school or college, if applicable. Start date: First or Second week of May.
