ArtBridge is very pleased to announce its first ab2 project at the future site of CAMBA Gardens, a joint affordable housing venture between CAMBA Inc. and Kings County Hospital Center (KCHC). With this ab2 project, ArtBridge brings work by seven local emerging artists featured in installations past, covering 151 linear feet along Clarkson and Albany Avenues in East Flatbush with their art.

Emily Carris is an African-American artist from Vermont. Her photography draws on personal experiences to examine the interplay between the race, gender, history, memory, and the self. In 2004, Emily received her B.A. in Education Studies and Photography from Eugene Lang Collage at the New School University. In 2008 she completed her M.A. in Photography at the University for the Creative Arts in England. Her work has been exhibited at the Islington Arts Factory, London; The Cooper Union, New York; Salem Art Work, New York; The Carving Studio, Vermont. Emily currently lives and works in Brooklyn.

Gregory Hayes is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is an alumnus of the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, where he received his BFA in Painting and was named Most Distinguished Artist. He received his MFA in Painting from the City University of New York, Brooklyn College where he studied with Vito Acconci. Hayes was selected by a curatorial panel consisting of Vik Muniz, Amani Olu and Eugenie Tsai to receive ArtBridge’s “Works in Progress” honorarium for outstanding process and execution of his photographic series. He was also selected to be the resident artist at the Millay Colony in May 2012 and was recently featured at the Brenda Taylor Gallery in Chelsea, New York.
Marilyn Henrion was recently honored by the Smithsonian Institution by being invited to submit her papers and sketchbooks for inclusion in the Archives of American Art. The award-winning works of this Cooper Union graduate and lifelong New Yorker are included in museum, corporate and private collections worldwide and have been exhibited throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her art quilts have also been featured in numerous publications, including “Women Designers In The U.S.- 1900-2000”, published in 2001 by Yale University Press. Among the grants she has received, was one awarded in 1996 by The Artslink Partnership, devoted to fostering excellence in the arts between the U.S. and countries of the former Soviet Union. In 2005, she was awarded a Fellowship by the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Susan Jacobs is a Brooklyn-based photographer who exhibits in juried and invitational group shows nationwide. Her work is included in large-scale public installations in Brooklyn, NY (Works in Progress 2011) and Seattle, WA (City Panorama 2012). These images are from two series of photographs (Tropicals Ascending, Tropicals in Decline; Household Cosmology) awarded as Official Selections in the 2011 Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3).
Cecilia Schmidt is fascinated with the way nature is represented in the media. In her photographs, she explores how digital media subverts our perception of the natural world. She takes still digital pictures of nature programming on television, which she manipulates to explore their underlying meanings. Her work in photography, painting, sculpture and video has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Sara Sill‘s journey as an artist is non-linear. Her resumé includes training in architecture and practice as a corporate lawyer in a prominent Wall Street firm, and subsequently a career in the non-profit sector with a classical music organization. Concurrently she has steadily established her credentials in the fine arts. She studied photography, painting, drawing, collage and surface design at the School of Visual Arts, the Art Students League and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as well as in special programs in Italy, Greece and France. Sara is an honors graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in architecture.
