Rodney Durso, FounderStarting in 1999 ArtBridge founder Rodney Durso, was principal and creative director of New York based Stormhouse Partners, an international award-winning branding and design agency where he led all client branding initiatives in print, web, packaging and environmental design.
Then in 2006, while teaching as an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design and working as a brand consultant, Rodney rented a studio in West Chelsea and began his transition into painting and the world of fine art. “I began painting as a way of prying myself out my daily work routine — I needed something totally new. I chose painting because technically it was completely foreign to me. It also has been very interesting to work without the constraints of budgets and schedules which had always served as a kind of compass for my branding and design work”, in short, it’s been extremely challenging and very rewarding.
Early in 2008, while looking around New York at the endless construction scaffolds and sidewalk bridging Rodney founded ArtBridge. It is his hope that the organization’s exhibitions will both alter the city landscape and give a significant push to emerging artists in an increasingly competitive art world.
Jordana Zeldin, Director and Curator: Jordana Zeldin came to ArtBridge in 2009 has one of the 26 artists selected for its first public installation, First Exposure, exhibited on London Terrace Gardens in Chelsea. Brought on board to expand the reach of the organization, she has facilitated the production of its subsequent five installations.
In June of 2011, Jordana spearheaded the transformation of the broom closet next to ArtBridge office into The Drawing Room, a gallery that has since exhibited the work of thirteen emerging artists and been reviewed by Hyperallergic, Saatchi Online Magazine, and Two Coats of Paint, among other online publications. In addition to her work at ArtBridge, she has begun to curate independently, most recently as part of Young Curators, New Ideas IV at Meuelensteen in Chelsea. She holds a BA from the University of East Anglia in England and resides in Brooklyn.
Devin Mathis, Director of Operations: Before coming to ArtBridge, Devin Mathis was the programming associate at chashama, managing artists temporary installations and studio spaces in underutilized real estate in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.
She also worked as the manager of marketing and external communications for the Childrens Museum of the Arts in SoHo. She completed her masters in arts and cultural management at the Pratt Institute with a focus on building creative capital in communities that are recovering from natural disasters. While she is a passionate supporter of strengthening the arts and cultural communities, Devin is also an accomplished photographer, and studied at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies under Eric Breitenbach. She holds a BA in sociology from Xavier University.
